Skin and Hyperpigmentation

Hyperpigmentation is when your skin color changes due to inflammation, sun damage and other skin injuries. When I went on birth control I developed Melasma which resulted in some hyperpigmentation on my face. It gets worse when I spend too much time in the sun.

Fortunately there are treatments that can reduce the pigmentation and restore your skin. Some Dermatologists use treatments that are too strong which can actually make matters worse, so I always advise people to do their research to find the best fit.

Depending on how the skin becomes pigmented the treatment varies. It is super important to communicate to your dermatologist how and why you believe the pigmentation occurred. This is definitely a treatment sensitive condition.

I swear by Dr. Robert Anolik. He is the king of lasers! As my pigment is due to Melasma, there are only some lasers that get rid of it and Dr. Anolik knew exactly what would work. He is based in NYC and is my go-to with all things skin.
